Born to John J. Flaherty and Sarah M. (Ritro) Flaherty (both deceased) in Brooklyn, NY.
Married to Leonard M. Searcy Jr. (deceased).
In high school, she was Drill Team Captain and worked odd jobs for their neighbors. Married, she worked at the TG&Y (95th and Antioch) as Office manager and bookkeeper for many years before she started her own franchise, Luncheon Is Served. She became room mother for her children’s classrooms, where children from other classes would stop in after their parties to see if there was any leftover food. She was involved with cub scouts and campfire girls. She joined a women’s organization, Pilot Club. She was elected President of the local chapter in the late 70’s. Baking and cake decorating became a creative outlet. Winning many awards for cake designs. An active member of 2 cake groups. In 1976, she volunteered to make the wedding cake for a friend. She was asked if she would like to help them by catering as well. From that time until she retired in 1995, she owned and operated her successful business, Executive Catering and the Wedding Connection. With her family’s support the business grew. Moving her business into Downtown Overland Park she was active in the community and involved with the Optimist club. Pat was an avid reader, Painter and writer of Limericks and Poetry. She was on occasion, published in the KC Star.
We will miss her laugh, wicked sense of humor, her open heart and willingness to help others.
