Michael Leon Brown, age 79, of Merriam, Kansas, returned to God on March 28, 2015 at his home surrounded by his devoted family. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 31, from 5-7pm at McGilley & Hoge, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas 66204. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 1, 10:30am at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Catholic Community Hospice and Salvation Army.
Mike is survived by his sister Dona Lee Wilson; his beloved wife of 47 years, Patricia Phipps Brown; his children Kimberly (Doug) Jeffs, Cynthia (Tom) Rogers, Patrick (Carol) Brown, Jennifer (Andy) Olson, Gretchen Brown; his grandchildren Katie Brown, Samantha Boyle, Tommy and Adriana Rogers, Olivia and Nicholas Jeffs, Leah and Anthony Brown; Jimmy, Rose and Henry Olson; and great-granddaughter Mary Boyle, nephews, nieces, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Hildred Brown.
Mike was born Sept. 16,1935 in Atchison, KS. He attended Atchison High School and St. Benedict’s College. Mike owned and operated Prairie Village Plumbing Company for more than thirty years as a plumber and friend to many. He was a member of Plumber’s Union Local 8. Mike was an avid fisherman, hunter, history buff and devoted family man. He spent much of his time supporting the endeavors of his children and grandchildren, coaching both on the field and from the sidelines. He will be greatly missed.
