Mary Ellen Bruenger Kalnasi, age 98, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Monday, October 4th at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM on Tuesday, October 5th at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 W. 71st Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66204. Graveside service will be 1:15 PM on Thursday, October 7th in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City, 5960 Dearborn Street, Mission, Kansas 66202.
Mary Ellen was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the La Sertoma Club. She was a long-time active member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overland Park.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husbands, Fritz Bruenger and Steven Kalnasi; and her grandson, Scott D. Bruenger.
Survivors include her sons, Stephen H. Bruenger and Roger M. Bruenger; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew, Paul, Christopher, Carrie, Craig, Courtney, and Caitlyn; as well as her six great-grandchildren.
