Jack W. Hayhow, Sr., 90, passed away on October 31st, 2013 at Villa St. Francis Nursing Home. Visitation will be at 1:00PM on Monday, November 4th at McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Olathe Memorial Cemetery, Olathe, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Crossroads Hospice or Villa St. Francis Nursing Home.
Jack was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 16, 1923. He served in the Army Air Corp as a top turret gunner in a B-24 during World War II. He worked at the Jones Store in downtown Kansas City for 20 years prior to a 20-year career at the U.S. Postal Service. Jack and his wife, Wilmetta, celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage on October 9th of this year. Jack enjoyed duck and pheasant hunting, being with his family, caring for his dogs and sitting by a crackling fire, stream or lake.
Jack was preceded in death by: his parents Ralph and Helen Hayhow; and grandson, Seth Hayhow. He is survived by: his wife, Wilmetta; son, Jack Hayhow and his wife, Joyce Hayhow; son, Jim Hayhow and his wife, Pam Hayhow ; grandsons, Brian Hayhow, Garrett Hayhow, Tanner Hayhow, Mike Hess; granddaughters, Sarah Paine, Rebecca Schnoebelen and Diana Hess; and eight great grandchildren.
