Constance Lucille Foster, known by family and friends as Connie, was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Alvan and Birdie Hamilton Foster on December 1, 1953. Connie attended Sequoyah Elementary School in Overland Park, Kansas. In her Junior High and high school years, she studied at Kansas City College and Bible School, now Kansas Christian College, where her parents studied and met. Following high school she studied for a year at The College, and began working part time at Herald and Banner Press. That became full time, where she was employed 43 years. Connie attended the Overland Park Church of God (Holiness) her entire life and she served God and the Church as Sunday school teacher in the children’s department, sometimes co-teaching with her mother.
Throughout her life, Connie developed many interests. As a child and teen she immensely enjoyed fishing trips with her parents and grandparents, and at times other family members and friends. Her collections of Precious Moments figurines and Boyd’s Bears filled the house. She enjoyed traveling across this beautiful and wonderful country, spending time in and viewing God’s amazing creation. Connie was addicted to reading and would occasionally crochet and do counted cross stitch, but her great love was genealogy. Besides researching and collecting her own family history, she frequently assisted friends in researching their family histories.
Connie was diagnosed with cancer in March 2015. She went through chemo, radiation, then chemo again. All treatments failed to be effective. Her oncologist then referred Connie to Hospice Care and she was under their care the remainder of her days on earth. Connie entered into heavenly rest on February 19, 2016 at her home.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a host of cousins.
Connie no longer has the limitations of ill health. One can only imagine what it was like for her to see the face of Jesus, and then to be reunited with her loved ones. Although Connie will be greatly missed, we know she is rejoicing at the feet of Jesus.
