Chris was born in Long Island, NY on April 14, 1965, even then everyone in the family knew Christine was going to be the life of the party. Her family moved to Leawood, KS in the mid 1970's. Chris went to Brookwood Elementary and Indian Creek Jr High, then graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1983. From there Chris became a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at Washburn University in Topeka, KS. Once she graduated she found a career in the banking industry, where she became a Branch manager of many local banks here in KC. In 1996 Chris met the love of her life, John. They got married in 1999.
Chris had a long list of lifetime friends, and I mean a very very long list. A stranger she never met. Her smile, her laughter, and her personality lit the room.
Chris was always ready for a good time. She loved to travel. She always had a great story from visiting her favorite spot, Las Vegas. Chris would always enjoy a good game of golf, especially when she use to go with her father. She was also an incredible cook. She'd keep recipe books and was always eager to try new dishes. She made a mean dish of fried potatoes and onions, something John really loved! In another life Chris would have been a storm chaser. Sitting out on the front porch watching a thunder storm roll in was her happy place.
Chris was an animal lover, as most people knew. The love was apparent with her first dog Patches. Many may recall her pet bird Marvin or her dog Blender, both of which she loved dearly. Or Coco Boy the cat, who she taught to use the toilet (somehow!) She would open the door or window to any furry, four legged, feathered friend or a turtle. She literally had a menagerie of pets, too many to list and she loved every single one.
While Chris will be dearly missed by all, she will never be forgotten! We will think of her when the next storm rolls through. We will think of her the next time we share a good meal. We will think of her the next time it's quiet wishing she'd share a joke.
Chris is preceded in death by her father, Rudolph Voda.
Chris is survived by her husband, John W. Nash; her mother, Geraldine Voda; her sisters, Brenda Gomez and Karen Voda; her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Tavier Haarer; her nieces, Katy Houska, Jennifer Gomez, Carley Dvorsky, Olivia Hayward; her nephews, James Houska, Connor Hayward, David Hayward, Drew Dvorsky, Will Dvorsky, Nathan Hayward; along with many extended family members and friends.
