Betty Lou Russell, 89, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away October 4, 2015. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas, with burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the chapel on Saturday. Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse
Mrs. Russell was born January 9, 1926, in Eldon, Missouri, the youngest of eight children to Spairl and Zona Kelsay. During her youth she came to a lifelong faith in Christ. After finishing high school in 1943 she moved to Kansas City working in secretarial jobs until she married Warren John Russell on September 22, 1946 at Kensington Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. After that she became a homemaker and mother to three children: Kay, John and Mark. Mrs. Russell was a devoted wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren John Russell, and her daughter, Diane Kay Russell. She is survived by her sons John and Mark, six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
