Beloved husband to Teena (Moreau) for 30 years and devoted father to Brett and Victoria, he is also survived by his brother Dean (Kathy) and stepbrother Fabien Vacher (Angela). He was a much loved brother-in-law to the Moreau family: Don (Barbara) of Alberta; Patrick (Lynne); Lynn (Joy) of Ottawa, and Heath of Tampa, Florida. Kirk will also be missed by his 12 nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and nephews, his aunts Johanne and Jenny Shepherd, and close friends and neighbours.
A natural athlete, Kirk spent 13 years as a volunteer for the Blackburn Stingers Hockey Association, coaching levels from novice to bantam. His high school days were spent playing volleyball and basketball, and played competitive hockey for the East Voyageurs. He continued playing hockey until his mid-50s with the Mens League. Kirk spent most of his career as a Pressmen Printer and was working for the last 7 years for Dynacare.
A celebration of Kirk’s life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the Bilberry Creek Baptist Church, 480 Charlemagne Blvd, Orléans.
In lieu of flowers Teena, Brett and Victoria ask that donations be made to the BMHA Blackburn Stingers Association to help cover registration costs and provide hockey equipment for families struggling financially. These gift donations will pay homage to Kirk and his dedication to coaching youth hockey. Please see below for link to pledge donations.
