Catherine Mary O'Brien, née Morrissey

With sadness we announce that Cathy passed away on April 8th, at the Montfort Hospital after being hospitalized with severe brain damage as a result of a fall from a wind storm on April 3rd. She was the only child of the late Arthur and Elisabeth Morrissey. She was the beloved wife of Bert O'Brien for 56 years. Survived by sister in law Geraldine Long (late Carl), Eddie O'Brien (late Claudette), Ruby O'Brien (late Pat) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Patsy and Ron Sunstrum, Smyth and Helen O'Brien, and Frank O'Brien. She worked at Manpower and Immigration for 38 years. Cathy spent her entire life trying to please people and in return was loved by everyone. She also loved sending greeting cards, reading and sharing mystery novels and watching sports, especially the Ottawa 67's hockey team. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10:00 am at Saint Patrick's Basilica, 220 Kent Street, Ottawa, ON. The family will receive friends from 9:15 to 9:50 at the Basilica. Inurnment and reception to follow at Our Lady of the Visitation cemetery and parish hall, 5338 Bank Street South Gloucester.
