Hester Mae Heeb died in her sleep on Saturday 22 February 2014. She was born Hester Mae Schooley on 5 November 1921, daughter of Thomas “Elmer” Schooley and Mary Irene “Mae” Fuller Schooley in Mitchell, Nebraska and raised there and in Wyoming. In 1940, Hester married Loran Ben Heeb in Harrisburg, NE. They went to Caldwell, Idaho near family and friends to farm. After her husband served in WWII, they moved to the undeveloped “Bench” in Othello, WA. The Othello women on the bench were nicknamed the “Sage Hens” as they cleared the sagebrush. Their sons, Ben Heeb & Steve Heeb were both raised in Othello. Loran & Hester eventually retired from farming and moved to Roslyn, WA. From 1984-2000, they spent their winters in Quartzsite, Arizona. They had enjoyed 59 years of marriage when Loran died in 2000. In 2007, Hester moved to Puyallup, WA. She is survived by her sons, Ben (Corky) Heeb and Steve (Kay) Heeb, grandchildren Steve (Michelle) Heeb, Susan (Charlie) Williams, Ron (Christy) Heeb, Kevin (Celena) Heeb and great-grandchildren Liam, Loran, Mitchell, McKenzie, Ayahna, Olivia and Joshua.
