She was born July 21, 1919 in Afton, New York the daughter of the late Charles and Ethel Clock. Mabel was raised in Afton by her foster parents, Howard and Edith Curran who also predeceased her.
For 23 years she worked at Bendix (Amphenol Corp.) in Sidney until her retirement in 1983.
Mabel lived in Sidney from 1965 until 1989 when she moved to Otego. On February 4, 1989, Mabel married James A. Lent. James predeceased her on March 10, 1995.
She enjoyed her flowers and birds. She especially loved spending time with her dog, Codey.
Mabel was a member of the Sidney United Methodist Church and the Women of the Moose, Oneonta.
Mabel is survived by her step children, Phyllis V. Bell, Oneonta, Betty Jo M. Cox, Staunton, VA, Karen S. Clouse, Unadilla, Morris R. Johns, Cheraw, SC, Keith D. Lent, Portsmouth, VA, Dean F. Lent, Oneonta and Brian P. Lent, Otego; one sister, Maude C. Fairchild, New Mexico; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Linda Perry of Sidney.
She was predeceased by two step daughters, Shirley O. Johns and Donna L. Solovitch; one step son, Arthur J. Lent; four sisters, Helen C. McNeely, Mary C. Gunn, Thelma C. Nichols and Ruth C. Saari; five brothers, Clarence , Chancey, William, Howard and Robert Clock.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 34 River Street, Otego from 11:00am to 12:00 pm. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 pm with. Burial will be in the Otego Evergreen Cemetery.
