JAMES K. MAHNENSMITH, 72, of Ossian, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010, at his home. Jim was born Aug. 8, 1937, in Fort Wayne, son of the late Elwin and Wanda (King) Mahnensmith. Jim was the owner and operator of the Ossian Tavern for 43 years. He belonged to the Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine, Bluffton Masonic Lodge and the Elks Lodge in Bluffton. He was also a board member of the Oaklawn Cemetery Association, until retiring in 2009. Jim enjoyed showing and racing horses. He was also an avid snowmobile rider. Surviving are his wife, Kay Mahnensmith of Ossian; daughter, Rita (Robert) Simison of Ossian; son, Todd (Holly) Mahnensmith of Ossian; sister, Linda (Richard) Gibson; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill Street, Ossian, with calling one hour prior to service. Wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Ossian Tavern. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
