It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Wilson Sr., on Saturday, July 16th, 2011 in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Hilda (nee Devenish) and father of Bill Jr. (Linda), David (Jocelyn), Mary Piney (Ron). Survived by brother Edward. Predeceased by sisters Pearl, Mildred, Emily, Viola and Lillian and brother George. Devoted grandfather of James (Chantal), Tina Gascon (Jean-Louis), Ben Piney (Deanna), Hillary, Michael (Rachel) and his seven great grandchildren, Guillaume, Casey Piney, Brooke Piney, Carleigh Piney, Taylor Piney and twins Erik and Elizabeth Gascon. Also remembered by many nieces and nephews as well as long time family friend Gary Hamilton. Bill served his country for six years in WWII before returning to his family and to Wilson & Lee which along with his aunt Mary Lee and two brothers, he built into the respected business it has become. He worked at the store until 2002, when he retired at the age of 85. His passion as a Maple Leaf fan is legend. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Monday, July 18th from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 P.M. Funeral service in the chapel on Tuesday, July 19th at 1:00 P.M. Interment to follow at Thornton Cemetery. Memorial donations to CNIB would be greatly appreciated.
