On Tuesday, December 26th, 2023, our precious husband, father, grandfather, sibling, brother-in-law, uncle and best friend, Paul Godfrey Loder, at the age of 75, was called home to be with Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
He was born on October 6th, 1948, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and is predeceased by his dear parents Dr. Peter and Joan Loder.
Paul is survived by his wife of over 50 years Janey, and his seven beloved children, Tamara (Barry), Sean (Li), Tony, Joey (Caylin), Mary (Mark), John (Laura) and Tommy. He is also survived by his six adored grandchildren, Emma, Caroline, Josie, Ava, Zachary and Devan, his younger siblings David (Peggy), Barb (Rick) and John, his supportive brother and sister in-laws, and all of his beautiful nieces, nephews and their families.
Paul worked as the Senior Project Superintendent for the Big Buildings Division of AECON, Jackson Lewis and Bannister for over 50 years. He was considered one of a handful of men responsible for building the Toronto skyline and worked on projects including Union Station, The Promenade, Woodbine Centre, Erin Mills Town Centre, Toronto Eaton Centre, and Ontario Place Molson Amphitheatre (Budweiser Stage), just to name a few.
Paul always said that he wanted to either build big buildings or be a farmer, and he found his way to his daughter and son-in-law's strawberry farm in Cavan, Ontario, where he helped out every spring, summer and fall for the past 20 years. These were some of the whole family's most cherished memories of Paul, where he would gather with the extended family, plant strawberries, pick sweet corn, and visit with the customers; he loved every minute of it.
Paul will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul, who was incredibly patient, encouraging, observant, logical and intelligent. He always spoke positively of others and filled our lives with love, joy and hope...we will miss him dearly.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 214 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa, Ontario, on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial and interment at Resurrection Cemetery. A reception will follow at 22 Worthington Drive, Courtice, Ontario; all are most welcome.
A special thank you to everyone who participated in Paul's care, especially the nurses and doctors at Oshawa Lakeridge Health, and the many family and friends who helped to make his last Christmas so joyous.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Campaign Life Coalition, the Kidney Foundation and Sick Children's Hospital.
"Father, everything is possible to You. Thank you, Father!"
