Paul Armstrong

Paul will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Carol, sons Andrew (Lori) Armstrong and Keith (Mandy) Armstrong and cherished grandchildren Emily, Erika, Avangelina, and Thomas. Dear brother of Patricia (Raymond) Smart of Toronto, predeceased by his brother Tim (Nancy) Coffey of Bowmanville and will be missed by his brother-in-law Doug (Wendy) Baker and extended family in Oshawa, Bowmanville, Toronto, Uxbridge, Ottawa, and British Columbia.

Paul’s early years were spent in the Orangeville and Toronto areas. He was a dedicated family man who proudly raised two wonderful sons (and his beloved dog Blu) with Carol in Oshawa.

He was an Air Traffic Controller who dedicated 31 years of his professional life to Transport Canada / NAV Canada at various airports including Toronto Pearson International Airport, Toronto Buttonville Municipal Airport and Oshawa Executive Airport. Paul's passion for aviation extended beyond his profession. He was also a flight instructor and a commercial pilot with multiple ratings, accumulating over 40 years in the aviation industry. He was well respected and admired for his professionalism, kindness, and unique teaching abilities.

Paul was also deeply committed to his faith as a long-standing member of Harmony Road Baptist Church in Oshawa. He was also an active participant in his community, spending many hours volunteering at the Bibles for Missions Thrift Stores in Oshawa and Bowmanville.

His interests were diverse, ranging from being a member of the Marksman Club of Oshawa to woodworking (including building a family cottage in Haliburton), camping and fishing. Paul had a creative side too, indulging in the art of stained glass making. He found joy in playing the organ, bike rides, and leisurely walks.

Among his many pleasures, Paul loved to travel with Carol, exploring the world on cruise ships and hopping in the van and heading out on well-planned road trips. Photography was another passion that allowed him to capture the beauty he encountered during his many adventures, and he enjoyed sharing home-made photo CDs and DVDs with his family.

Paul’s memory will be eternally cherished by his family and friends, who will forever remember the remarkable life he led and the lasting impact he made on all those fortunate enough to know him.

Family and friends may attend a visitation at Oshawa Funeral Home 847 King Street West (905 721-1234) on Sunday November 12, 2023, from 2 – 4 p.m. Funeral service will be held in our chapel on Monday November 13, 2023, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service in our chapel at 10:30 a.m. A time of fellowship will follow in the Oshawa Funeral Home Reception Lounge.

Paul will be laid to rest at the Orono Cemetery N MI Ln, Orono (Main St. & Taunton Rd.). Family and friends are welcome to attend and will meet at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice.
