It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Robert Patrick “Pat” Montgomery. He passed away on July 13, 2024, in his hometown of Oshawa, Ontario. He was only 42 years old. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Connor and Owen; mother, Christine; siblings, Colleen (Delroy), Emily (Julianna), and Michael (Kaitlin); grandfather, Bruce; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Pat is predeceased by his father Chris, and grandparents Roberta, Margaret, and Charles.
Pat valued family, friends, and fun; but for Pat, being a father was paramount. He loved engaging with people and had an innate ability to light up a room; often by proclaiming absurd statements as fact or performing an impressive dance routine. His laugh had a life of its own. Pat also had a passion for community. He worked continuously to make positive impacts through his teaching career and his involvement with athletics. Many knew him for his rough and tough hockey persona, but underneath it all, he was a sensitive, kind, and caring man that wanted the best for people.
A purveyor of fine conversation, Pat loved to think of himself as a skilled wordsmith—his tragic passing is ineffable.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 1100 Mary St. North, Oshawa on Friday July 26, 2024, at 10:30am, followed by Interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 350 Taunton Road East, Whitby. Join us at St. Joseph Auditorium, 1100 Mary St. North, Oshawa at 1:30pm, to visit with the family. Light refreshments will be served.
