It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joe Hogan at home on April 2, 2016 at 68 years of age. Beloved husband of Diane for 42 years. Loving father of Joanne (Imran) and Robert (Jenn). Dear brother of Cathy (Terry) and Jim (Catherine) and brother-in-law of Dzintra. Loving uncle to his nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his parents John and Mary Hogan and brother-in-law Chuck.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6 at the Oshawa Funeral Home (847 King Street West) at 10am, followed by a celebration of life at 11:30am. A reception will follow.
Born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick, Joe moved to Ontario to pursue his teaching career, but he never forgot his roots, often sharing tidbits of wisdom from the Maritimes. Both those in Ontario and the Maritimes will miss him deeply. He pursued his passion for technological education for 32 years, sharing his knowledge and experience with students and teachers alike. His kind and generous demeanour made him a loyal and dedicated friend to many people, always offering to lend a hand to those in need. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humour and quick wit.
Throughout his life, he dedicated countless hours to different charitable organizations, including the JCI Senate. His legacy lives on through his numerous projects and initiatives, and through his children. His zest for life should be inspiration for all of us to remember to enjoy each day. All will agree, he is gone much too soon.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Simcoe Hall Settlement House or a charity of your choice are appreciated.
