Sandra “Sandy” White Carmichael passed peacefully into the gentle embrace of Jesus on Sunday, August 22, 2021. She was 72 years old.
Sandy was many things, all of them blessings to those who knew her, but they included being a completely devoted and loving wife to her husband, Ted, of 52 years, a phenomenal and tireless mother and cheerleader for her children, Kristi and Teddy, a sweet sister to her many siblings, Kenny, Angie, Mike, Ponce, Julie, Beverly, Brenda and Teri, an aunt and great-aunt and great-great aunt to a gaggle of beautiful family and children, and the adoptive mother of her rescued fur-babies, a chonky cat, April, and a friendly dog, EmmaDoodles.
Sandy was predeceased by her mother, Ruth, and two of her brothers, Stevie and Danny, whom she will meet in Heaven.
After devoting a number of years to her husband and to beginning a family of her own, Sandy was a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse. She worked as a preceptor, mentor and highly empathetic and compassionate caregiver at West Jefferson Hospital in Marrero, La., where she worked for 24 years first on a Burn Unit and then primarily on their Surgical Cardiac Unit. She was deeply passionate about her Christianity and her unending love for Jesus, and after her retirement was an extremely active member and volunteer at South Putnam Church in Crescent City, Fla.
Sandra’s family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the staff at the AdventHealth DeLand ER, PCU, and ICU-West for their gentle care.
A joyful Celebration of Life service is being held in Sandy’s honor at South Putnam Church, 114 Amos Road, Crescent City, FL, 32122, on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at 3 p.m. All are invited to join her friends and family there to enjoy fellowship, to bear witness to her glorious life, and to recognize the impact her abundant love, nurturing spirit and generous kindness had on the world around her.
