Mother Carrie Lee Jackson was born December 28, 1934 to James Jones and Vinnie Raulerson. Mother Jackson attended public school in Lake City, FL. Upon graduating high school, she was the valedictorian of her class and the class president. She was awarded a four year scholarship to Edward Waters College but Mother Jackson turned down the scholarship and decided to marry the love of her life, Silas Jackson Sr. From this union, six children were born. In 1956, Mother Jackson and her husband, Silas, left Lake City, FL to make Daytona Beach, FL their home.
Mother Jackson was a retired CNA from the Golden Age Nursing Home after 38 years of service. Mother Jackson was a very compassionate care-giver to her patients. She also worked as a childcare provider at Friendship Academy, in which she truly adored.
Mother Jackson was a devoted mother of her church, licensed evangelist, Sunday school secretary, and correspondence secretary at Freewill Holiness Church.
Mother Jackson was so passionate in her love for people that for every birthday, anniversary, or special day celebrated by her family, church members and friends, she sent greeting cards and monetary gifts of love for well over 30 years.
In addition to loving people, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, attending all her church activities, and yearly attending the Jackson-Niblack Family Reunion.
Mother Jackson was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Silas, her daughter Theresa Jackson and her son-in-law Emmett Fountain.
Mother Jackson’s legacy of love will be cherished always by her loving and devoted children Pastor Yvonnie (George) Smith, Pamela Smith of Live Oak, FL, Silas Jackson Jr. of Manhattan, NY, Vickie Fountain and James (Cicely) Jackson Sr., ten grandchildren: Patrick (Sheteria), Stacy, Pia (Xavier), Qiana, Carmella (Paul), George, Marquetta, Tronisha, James Jr., and Joseph and 14 great-grandchildren. She will also be remembered by her sister Cora Burns of Ft. Pierce, FL, a brother-in-law Walter James Rentz of Lake City, FL, a sister-in-law Althea Jackson of Jacksonville, FL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on September 9, 2016 from 6:00- 8:00 pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, Ormond Beach. A Home Going Celebration will take place at 11:00 am on September 10, 2016 at Freewill Holiness Church, 360 N. Charles St., Daytona Beach.
