Thomas James Murphy

Thomas Murphy, 73, of Orleans, MA, peacefully passed away Monday night. He was born on November 22, 1947 and graduated from Hingham High School in 1965. He spent much of his adult life in Yarmouth where he was a parishioner at St. Pius X and involved with the youth ministry program. He then moved down to the Lower Cape where he became a member of St. Joan of Arc in Orleans. He was a friend of Bill’s and a 30-year member of the Matt Talbot Retreat Group 27E of which he was a Vice Chairman and former Area Captain. He loved helping others and was there for many.

Tom is survived by his daughter Cathleen, and son Tom Murphy Jr and his wife Dru, son Reed, and daughter Corinne of Fairfax Station, VA. He is also survived by his brother Jack Murphy and his wife Terry of Williamsburg, VA, his sister Sheila Davis and her husband Bob of Weymouth, MA, and multiple nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Catholic Charities or the Matt Talbot Retreat program. Calling hours to be held from 4-7pm on Sunday April 25th at the Nickerson Funeral Home in Orleans and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held (with the option to view a broadcast online) on Monday April 26th at 11am at St. Joan of Arc Church in Orleans. A private burial will be held at a future date.
