Marlene M. Grandmont (Taylor) Hoey, 86, passed away peacefully Saturday December 3rd, 2022 at Liberty Commons of Chatham after battling many complications from diabetes. Her strength, perseverance, love of life, and sheer will to live amazed all who knew her. She was the wife of the late Edward Hoey and the daughter of the late Violet (Grandmont) Cabral.
Marlene grew up with her three sisters Jeannine Slauson, Gail Phinney, and Joanie Woelfel who she considered her best friends. She graduated from Braintree high school, married her high school sweetheart Robert L. Taylor and raised three daughters in Braintree. In 1973, Marlene remarried Edward L. Hoey, and blended their families with his four children. After vacationing on Cape Cod every summer Marlene and Eddie moved to the Cape in 1985.
After raising her children, loved working as a bartender, then as the Executive Director of Housing Authorities of Braintree and Cape Cod. She was an avid beach-goer and loved the serenity of a day in the sun reading a book. Marlene had a great love of animals and had many beloved pets throughout her life. She loved hosting large family gatherings and treating her family to a night out at a restaurant with a martini. Marlene was always the life of the party, bringing a light to every person who knew her.
Marlene is survived by her three sisters and her children, Terri Euber and her husband Dale of Weymouth, Lynn Walsh and her husband David of Brewster, and the late Traci E. Venezia. She is also survived by Michael Hoey and his wife Charlotte of PA, Steven Hoey and his wife Susan, Rene Hoey and her companion Steve, and the late Thomas Hoey and his wife Doris. Marlene is survived by her grandchildren Robert Taber and his wife Stephanie, Taylor and Christa Walsh, Franchesca Ferguson and her husband Anthony, the late Nicholas and Thomas Venezia, and Boni Moore and her husband Jim. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren.
