Eastham, MA- John P. Giblin passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 18, 2013, following a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born on September 17th, 1958 in Springfield, MA to the late Joseph and Lucille Giblin. John attended Cathedral High School in Springfield, Prep School at Wilbraham & Monson Academy, and earned a bachelor’s degree from American International College. He was a talented hockey player, playing varsity hockey at all three academic institutions. After college John became a machine tool salesman for many years before becoming a carpenter later in life.
John was a long time youth and high school hockey coach. He loved to fish, clam, and lobster with his sons and garden with his wife. He was a kind and generous friend and neighbor always putting others needs before his own. Above all, the most important thing in John’s life was his family. Everything that he did was to make sure they were happy, healthy, and provided for. John will be missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne Giblin; his sons Peter Giblin and Jay Giblin and wife Wendy. In addition, he is survived by his twin brother Jay Giblin and wife Betty; his brother Dan Giblin; his sister Susan Giblin; his in-laws, Joseph and Rosalie Mardeusz; his sister-in-law Rosemary McCarthy and husband Mike; his brother in-law Joey Mardeusz and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Joseph, his mother Lucille, and niece Fiona.
Calling hours will be held from 5pm to 7pm, Friday, March 22, 2013 at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Parkway, Orleans, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 23 at 10am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2282 Route 6, Wellfleet, MA followed by a burial service at Evergreen Cemetery in Eastham, MA.
