Eleanor (Galati) Fischer, of Orleans, MA, formerly of Wethersfield, CT, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018. Eleanor was the devoted wife of the late Henry Fischer, and the daughter of the late Dominick Galati and Fannie (Reale) Galati.
She is survived by a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great great nieces, great great nephews, and cousins. She also leaves many dear friends.
Eleanor was a longtime Executive Assistant at Aetna Life Insurance Company, and a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Church in Wethersfield, CT and St. Joan of Arc Church in Orleans, MA. She established a scholarship program as the founder and past President of the Newington/Wethersfield Woman’s Club, and more recently helped to manage the St. Joan of Arc Thrift Shop.
The only thing that matched Eleanor’s class was her sense of humor. Eleanor was a magnificent cook and baker, making everything from scratch. Entertaining was her passion. Her love of eating and cooking Italian food honored her Sicilian heritage. When she wasn’t enjoying the beauty of Cape Cod, she was planning her next trip to Italy. Never one to slow down, Eleanor had a spirit that couldn’t be matched. She truly was one of a kind. Appreciating the finer things in life, Eleanor enjoyed quality, and quality is what she added to the lives that she touched. A woman ahead of her time, a loyal friend, a cherished aunt and cousin, Eleanor will be remembered by all who knew her.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Eleanor’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 24 at St. Joan of Arc Church, Orleans, MA. At a later date there will be a private burial at Village Cemetery in Wethersfield, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (apcc.org). For online condolences, please visit www.nickersonfunerals.com.
