Dorothy M. Reeves

Dorothy was born in Provincetown on February 22, 1922 to William F. and Emma (Collins) Silva. She graduated from Provincetown High School in 1938.

On November 20, 1947 she married John, the love of her life. Over the next 18 years they lived in Alaska, Japan, Germany, Louisiana, and Texas while raising their four children. Upon John’s retirement from the Army in 1965 they settled in Killeen, Texas.

In 1971 she returned to Cape Cod where she and John opened PJ’s Family Restaurant in Wellfleet. She could be found most days behind the counter greeting and serving customers or in the office bookkeeping. A ritual for 43 years, she would unlock the door on opening day and lock the door on closing day. She locked the door for the final time on Monday October 14, 2013.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John A. Reeves, her parents William and Emma Silva, her brother and sister in law, Elmer and Kay Silva, her sister and brother in law, Eleanor & Bob Dillon and son in law, Dean A. Lillie.

She is survived by her daughters Carol Lillie of Benton, Arkansas and Linda Jonis and her husband Dave of Orange Park, Florida, her sons William Reeves and his wife Marcia of North Eastham, Massachusetts and Don Reeves and his wife Denise of Eastham, Massachusetts.

She was the proud Grammy of 11 grandchildren, Renee Lillie, Susan Lillie Alvarez, Michael (Brooke) and Chad Lillie, Laurie Jonis and Amy Jonis Lindahl (Rob), Kenneth (Jessica), Brian (Wendy) and Keith Reeves (Nicole Hague) and Andrew and Allison Reeves. She also had 10 great grandchildren with the 11th expected soon.

She is also survived by her brother Robert Silva and his wife Veronica of Provincetown, Massachusetts, her sister in law Margie Backus and her husband Wayne of Forney, Texas and also many nieces and nephews.

Her greatest source of pride was her large and ever expanding family.

A visitation will be held on Monday October 21, 2013 from 5 - 8 PM at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans MA. There will be a Mass of Christian burial held on Tuesday October 22, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Church, Canal Rd., Orleans MA; Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Provincetown, MA.
