EASTHAM - Barbara V Kamens passed away peacefully on March 10, 2023 at the age of 90, in the company of her family and her Pastor, after a period of declining health. She was the proud mother of three children however many considered her to be “mom”.
She was born in New York State and lived for many years in Connecticut before moving to Cape Cod (Eastham), in the early 70s, for a better life for all. Upon moving to the Cape she and dad became members of Saint peters Lutheran Church, always a very spiritual woman whose faith was her inner strength often guiding her through life‘s most difficult situations.
During her working years she was a full-time Legal and executive secretary and full-time mom yet throughout her life she still made time to volunteer wherever she could. She was an active member of Saint Peters Lutheran Church. She enjoyed membership in many clubs and organizations, anything that could do good; most recently the hospital auxiliary and her PEO groups. She enjoyed travel whether to the Amish areas of Pennsylvania or winters in Florida. She’s had many hobbies and interests and enjoyed collecting miniatures. She loved little theater and plays, both watching and participating. She was a talented seamstress and liked to knit and crochet. She loved books and was a voracious reader and many have benefited from her talent for cooking. She was an exceptional wife and mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She did most everything in life not out of obligation but because of who she was.
She had her own style and grace. Most of all she loved the children in her life. She delighted in her grandchildren and even more so when she was blessed with great grandchildren. We were all taught many life lessons without us even knowing.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Frederick “Jack” Kamens and her daughter Carrie Jane North. She is survived by her son and daughter, son-in-law and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
