Ann Denise (Peatie) Rice Wyer, 84, of Wellfleet, MA formerly of Wethersfield, CT passed into eternal life peacefully on December 8, 2023 with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of James D. and Helen Peatie (Donovan) who predeceased her. She was the beloved wife of Herbert S. Wyer for 20 years before his passing in 2013.
She will be forever missed by her sister Barbara Peatie of Holliston MA, her children: William P. Rice (Michelle) of Wellfleet, MA, Timothy J. Rice (Tina) of Westborough, MA, Michael C. Rice (Heidi) of Milford, CT, and Catherine M. Gallo (Douglas) of Franklin MA. She was blessed to be a part of her step children's lives: Theresa Dehm (Brian), Kathy O’Keefe, Carol Fitzsimmons (Paul).
She embraced being Grandma Cape Cod to her grandchildren: Patrick (Ali), Conor (Tara Federoff), Sara, and Keegan Rice, Olivia, Fiona, and Lucy Rice, Liam, Sean, Catherine, Colleen, and Jake Rice, Hannah, Jack, and Grace Gallo. She dearly loved her step grandchildren Jason (Kaley), Kevin, and Ryan Dehm, Michael, and Matthew O’Keefe, Andrew, and Emma Fitzsimmons, Carolyn, and Douglas Crosen and her four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister Virginia Larkin, her brother James (Scotty) Peatie, her first husband William Rice, her stepdaughter Patrica Crosen (Wyer), and her step-granddaughter Jennifer Crosen.
Born in Hartford CT, she attended St. Augustine School, Mount St. Joseph Academy, and Bulkeley High school. She enjoyed many jobs before retiring to Wellfleet including Hartford Electric Light Co. and working her favorite and most long-term job at Apostle and Nelson, where the Nelson family held a special place in her heart.
Denise was guided in life by God and faith. She adored her time with her children, grandchildren, the special Donovan cousins, the Kirkpatrick cousins of Scotland, loving nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends. She loved all things family and Cape Cod.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 4 - 7 PM and then from 9 -10 am on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Joan of Arc, 61 Canal Road, Orleans, MA. Burial will be at the family’s convenience.
