Ann Marie graduated from Classical High School in Springfield MA. She eloped with her husband of 53 years, Richard B. Perkins, whom she is survived by. They began their life together in Groton CT at the New London Naval Submarine Base. She had the difficulty of watching her husband go off on 3-month deployments with very little time together in between. After her husband’s discharge from the submarine service they started the next chapter in their lives by buying their first home in Ludlow, MA.
After trying for several years she was finally blessed with her three sons: Richard B. Perkins Jr., Joseph P. Perkins, and Mark T. Perkins. She loved being pregnant and considered that to be the happiest time of her life. She was also survived by her two beloved grandchildren, Alex L. Perkins and Gabrielle R. Perkins, children of Mark T. Perkins and Kristin M. (Francis) Perkins.
She was one of five children born to Anne E. (Beaudoin) and George C. Lewis. She is predeceased by both of her parents, and one brother, Donald Lewis. She is survived by a brother, George Lewis, and his wife, Peg, a brother, Ray Lewis, and his wife, Marlene, a sister, Carol (Lewis), and her husband, Ronald St. Peter, and a sister-in-law, Anne Posiadlo, and her husband, Ron. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
Ann Marie dedicated her life to her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law, grandmother, and aunt. She was known for sending cards, for all occasions, to all of her family. She found joy in everyone’s babies, and loved shopping for baby clothes and toys (even making them sometimes).
Her hobbies included being a den mother for the cub scouts, fishing, rug making, doll making, watching scary movies with large buckets of popcorn, eating ice cream with her grandchildren, and laughing. She traveled the world extensively with her family. She had many adventures and was happy to experience different cultures, often going off the beaten path. She also had a great love of animals, having had numerous pets throughout her life. She loved recounting stories of her capuchin monkey (Chico) that she had for years as a young girl. Throughout her life she always had a pet, and she frequently visited animals at the local shelter.
