Robert C. Young, of Davenport, Florida, died July 8, 2018 at the age of 56. Born on April 24, 1962 in Queens, New York, Bobby graduated from Dowling College with a B.A. in business administration. He began his hospitality career with McDonald’s restaurants where he worked for 26 years, earning promotions to supervising 17 locations and winning Manager of the Year for the New York region in 1984. In 2006, Bobby moved to Florida and continued his career with the Walt Disney Company, again working his way up to management at the Caribbean Beach Resort and Front Desk Manager at the Contemporary Resort. His passion for customer satisfaction earned him the highest-possible employee evaluation of “Leading the Way”. He was also a lover of education and earned three master’s degrees, in business administration and human resource management.
For all of Bobby’s many achievements, he will truly be best remembered for his quick wit and his wicked sense of humor. He loved his nieces and nephews and could always be counted on to make them laugh, sometimes at inappropriate moments. Uncle Bobby was their partner-in-crime for minor misbehavior and shenanigans including taking prank photos on the Tower of Terror, mocking the “Creepy Chairs” in the Boardwalk Lobby, and making lobsters dance to “Under The Sea” on the table at fancy restaurants. A strong advocate of finding the humor in what surrounds you, he was the initiator of countless rounds of “The Nice Game”. Bobby loved vacationing, crushing trivia contests, cruising, and watching Gilmore Girls with his sister, Patti. His frequent trips to Walt Disney World, especially Vero Beach, were always among his favorites. Disney was always a very important part of his life professionally and personally. While the Disney Magic is in some ways coming to an end for Bobby, it’s truly only just the beginning as he continues to watch his nieces and nephews enjoy the Magic of Disney.
Bobby joins his mother, Kathleen, Grandma Tootsi, Grandpa Sweetheart, Nanny, and Poppy in heaven. Bobby is survived by his father, Robert, his father’s wife, Madeline, his sister, Patti, her husband, Jeff, and their four children: Kathleen, Megan, Christopher (Dr.), and Connor; and two great-nieces, Heather, and Evelyn.
A gathering of friends will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Family Funeral Care in Orlando, Florida.
