Many things can be said about Mrs. Mary Frances Hecht (AKA Mary Fran, Aunt Maa, Ga-Ga, and Mother). Known to friends and acquaintances as warm, beautiful, caring, and exemplified hospitality. Mary Fran was a true Southern Belle. Her loving kindness would always shine through, revealing her charm, warmth and Godly demeanor. Mary Fran was resilient and determined to make life work. She was an inspiration to all who sought her for advice. Her focus in life was family and friends.
Mary Fran was born October 16, 1918 in Orlando, Florida. Her parents were Katherine Louvicy Stafford Cone and Richard M. Cone. Mary Fran was born and raised in Orlando where she spent her whole life. Mary Fran lived on 112 West Princeton Ave from the ages of 5 - 19. She graduated from Orlando High School in 1936. She married September 3, 1938 to Edwin Walter Hecht (AKA Pop or Buddy) at Trinity Lutheran Church. While Pop was in the service she worked for Civil Service at the base in Marianna, FL. Mary Fran was a member of First Methodist Chruch of Orlando from a baby to 1979 and then transferred to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mary Fran enjoyed Bridge Club, Kismet, cooking, weekly trips to the Beauty Palor, and yearly trip to Maggie Valley. Mary Fran and Bud acquired Maggie Valley in 1951 where they built a cabin and barn. The family enjoy traveling to Maggie every year for the summer to escape the heat of the Florida sun. Some of the fondest memories we all have are of the time spent in Maggie.
Mary Fran passed away on March 14, 2010 at the Commons in Downtown Orlando. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl, two grandchildren, Roy and Shane, and two great grandchildren, Abigail and Megan. Services were held at her home parish, Trinity Lutheran Church on March 17, 2010. Mary Fran was laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando, Florida
Throughout her life, Mary Fran was a lively and kind woman. She was generous in sharing her personal attributes, giving and helping those she knew and loved. She would always be the one to bring the family together. She was tender hearted and easy to get along with. Mary Fran leaves behind a legacy of life long friendships and cherished memories. Everyone whose lives she touched, will dearly remember Mrs. Mary Frances Hecht.
