Mary Elizabeth Salamon Canty died Tuesday, February 20, 2018. She was 93 years old. Mary was born in Harmerville, PA but grew up in Chicago. There she met and married her late husband, Frank. They moved to Orlando in 1954. Mary and Frank raised seven children. Mary returned to college and graduated from Florida Technological University (now UCF) with a BA in Social Work in 1973. She worked as a social worker for the Christian Service Center for 25 years. Frank and Mary traveled to all seven continents. One of their favorite destinations was Alaska. They enjoyed camping and race walking. Mary's enthusiasm for life, for being active, and for travelling was an inspiration to her family and friends. Mary was always planning for the next adventure! We know that she is now in heaven watching over us. Mary is survived by her children; sons, Frank Canty, Tom Canty (Joyce), and Mark Canty; daughters, Mary Clare Lankford (Rick), Terry Canty, and Barbara Hopkins (Valete), 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, a daughter, Leone Canty, and one grandchild. Visitation will be held at Cremation and Burial Society, 4901 S. Orange Ave. Orlando, from 5 - 8 pm on Friday, March 9, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, on Saturday, March 10, 2018 in Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 4545 E. Anderson Road, Orlando. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to tunnel2towers.org or stjude.org. Arrangements by All Faiths (407-898-1698).
