Jeannette Margaret Gold (Jeanne), 81, formerly of the Tanglewood Neighborhood in Hunter’s Creek, passed away in her home surrounded by family on October 3rd, 2022 in Asheville, NC while bravely battling cancer.
She was born on June 6, 1941, in Philadelphia, PA, and grew up in Glenside, PA. Daughter of Randolph F. Lightcap (1897-1975) and Margaret A. Lightcap (nee Tarbox) (1906-1977) and beloved sister of Lucy Lightcap Eve (1937-2001). She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert, and loving children Kathleen Gold (Brian Filer) of Asheville, NC, Maureen (Mark) Dzialo of Fletcher, NC, and Joseph (Amy) Gold of Darien, CT; as well as grandchildren Andrew (Drew) Gold of Seattle, WA, Spencer Gold of Darien, CT, and Grace and Alexander (Alec) Dzialo of Fletcher, NC. Jeanne will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jeanne graduated from Abington Senior High School, Abington, PA, in, 1959 and later in life earned a BA degree in Communications from Loyola University Chicago. She retired from CNL Financial Group, Orlando FL, in 2007. She was a member of the Stone Circle Women's Group and editor of their monthly newsletter for many, many years; and forged some of her closest and dearest friendships there later in life. She loved music; all of it; everything from Mozart to David Haas to Tony Bennett to Enya; and Broadway musicals were her favorite. Give her a chance to see a new show or a revival of an old one, and she was off and running. Her love of music was most evident when she sang with the choir or guitar group at any church she was a member of or with her community choral group in Orlando.
Jeanne was a woman of great faith as well as kind, generous and compassionate. She also had a contagious laugh and broad smile and will be desperately missed by all those that she’s left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this loss. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
A memorial service will be held at the Wayside Chapel, Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, Pennsylvania, 19002 on November 19th at 10:00 am. Interment will take place immediately thereafter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Doctors Without Borders, an organization Jeanne felt strongly about.
Following the service, a remembrance/reception gathering for Jeanne will be held at the William Penn Inn, 1017 Dekalb Pike, Gwynedd, PA, 19436. A Celebration of Life gathering in Orlando, Florida is in the planning stages and will be announced at a later date.
