Edward P. Curley, 90, passed away on the morning of Dec. 7, 2019, in Orlando, Fla. Edward was born on Feb. 12, 1929 in Hartford, Conn., to Anthony Basil Curley and Loretta Parker Curley. He went to Bulkeley High School in Hartford and graduated in 1948. After graduation, Edward enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and served for 20 years.
Edward married Eleanor Nunes on August 7, 1954, in Hartford, Conn. He worked in communications field with the 8th Fighter Bomber Squadron in the Korean War and later with Strategic Air Command. He was stationed in Okinawa, England, Morocco, and many bases in the United States. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1968. Ed was very proud to be a military veteran and to have had the honor of serving his country. Upon retirement from the military, he moved his family to Orlando to start a life in the sun. He took a job at the Orlando Sentinel in advertising, where he earned a Salesman of the Year honor, selling over a million dollars in ads. He retired from the Orlando Sentinel after 23 years. He loved military history. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the History Channel. He enjoyed gardening, the Orlando Magic, his dog, and spending time with his family.
Edward is survived by his dear wife of 65 years, Eleanor, and his three children, Doreen Freeman and her husband Basil, Glenn Curley and his wife Debby, and Donna Patz and her husband Mark. Edward also is survived by five grandchildren: Amber, Adam, Lindsey, Tyler, and Courtney, and two great-grandchildren, Addison, Emma, and one on the way. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he filled our hearts with love.
A family burial will be held at noon on December 14th at Glen Haven Memorial Park. All friends and family are invited to the Memorial Service on December 21st at 11 a.m. at the Baldwin-Fairchild Conway Funeral Home, 1413 South Semoran Blvd., Orlando, Fla., 32807.
