Don was born November 28, 1951 at Bolling Air Force Base Washington DC. He grew up on several Air Force Bases in the United States. He lived in Brevard County before moving to Kissimmee.
He is predeceased by his mother Betty A Bishop of Palm Bay, FL and his father John A Bishop of Kissimmee, FL. Don is survived by his wife Sherry B Fowler of Kissimmee and his step daughter Jessica S Breault of Melbourne, FL
Don obtained the rank of Eagle Scout while living in Hawaii and finished high school in Goldsboro, NC. He graduated from the University of Florida as a Lieutenant in the Air Force. His military career was cut short by the downsizing after Vietnam but he was always proud of his military upbringing and commitment to his country.
His love of animals was fostered by helping his mother raise and show Boxers.
Don was a passionate aviator and historian. He was affiliated with the Valiant Air Command and the Flying Tigers Warbird Air Museum. He was a voracious reader and this lead to his business of selling books. He loved to laugh, share information and to introduce people to his many interests. He spent the last dozen years as a member of the Bob White Field flying community in Zellwood, FL where he kept his TriPacer. He was an aviator, animal lover, Porsche and Mercedes enthusiast and a Florida Gator. “One must always remember he was only six”.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday May 17th at 2:00Pm at Family Funeral Care, 13001 So John Young Parkway, Orlando
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the ASPCA or Valiant Air Command.
