David Sikorski, beloved husband and father, found his peace with the Lord on Saturday, February 9, 2013. David was born on March 27,1929 in Batavia, New York and married the love of his life, Helen Lewandoske, on November 5, 1949. David and Helen were married for 63 years and had six children. David was a founding member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and Loyal Order of the Moose fraternal associations. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1964, retiring from the service he loved so much when diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Upon his retirement, he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious achievement. Although the disease prevented him from doing many things, he never ceased to be thankful for the recovery he made. During the last years of his life, David battled the effects of both multiple sclerosis and multiple myeloma with courage, dignity and grace. He never complained, often commenting on how lucky he was that God had allowed him to experience so much of life despite his physical condition. David is survived by his wife, Helen, his children Michael, James, Joni, Janine and Victoria, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The family will receive guests on Sunday ,February 17, 2013 from 11 AM to 12 PM at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, Florida 32806; 407-898-2561. David's funeral service will be held after the visitation with interment following immediately thereafter at Greenwood Cemetery.
