I am very sorry for your loss. When I was young, we would stay with uncle Carl & aunt Betty almost every summer.  Once we were at the airport, we were in the cockpit of one of the Delta Airlines planes & uncle Carl had me on the PA & asked me if we were on an American airlines plane. I thought we are are in America, so yes.  He corrected me & said,  "No this is a Delta Airlines plane." Doh! May uncle Carl soon be with God in heaven. 

I am Uncle Carl’s oldest nephew, Nick. I have fond (but vague since they are from over 70 years ago) memories of visiting Grandma and Grandpa Schroeder’s house when I was very young and it was wonderful. Uncle Carl was only 11 when I was born and he was one of four younger uncles who made my time there delightful. Uncle Carl was probably the orneriest of the bunch. I was told that, in the competition for food — there were eleven kids — Uncle Carl was known to lick a finger and then rub it on the biggest piece of pie!

January 1970. Six months back from Vietnam my dad told me that a guy he knew named “Dad” Reel told him Delta was hiring and maybe I should check it out. Carl had me fill out and application and I went to Atlanta for a interview. Got off the airplane in Detroit and Carl said when can you start?   Thirty three years later my Delta career ended and I owe it to Carl Paul Schlacter and Joe Pavco. Thanks gentlemen it was a great ride. RIP Carl

Carl was my 1st supervisor when I hired on with Delta in April, 1973.
His kindness, knowledge and patience were the things I remember most about Carl, although the last time I saw Carl was probably 45 years ago, I still remember as if it were yesterday.  Carl, you set the bar  as how I viewed all of my future supervisors and how I wanted to be once  I became a supervisor -manager with Delta.  Rest in Peace Mr. Schroeder.

Carl was always supportive of me and Jamie on and off the softball fields.  Thank you Carl for being there for us growing up.  I’m also grateful for your relationship with my dad.  You always included him on your golf outings, and he looked forward to those rounds!  Hopefully you’ll get some rounds with him up in Heaven.  Love you Crazy Carl ❤️
