Betty, raised in Valley Station Kentucky outside of Louisville, served proudly in the United States Navy, where she met and married her husband of many years, Robert P. Evans. She left the Navy to raise her three daughters while supporting her husband’s career through different cities and bases along the East coast. She was active in the children’s school, serving as the president of the PTA, in scouting as a Troop Leader in Virgina, in support as the president of the Navy Wive’s Club in Mayport, Florida, and in academics as the president of the Northern Virginia Community College chapter of Phi Theta Cappa, the National Honor Society for Junior Colleges.
Betty was known for her artistic talents in sewing, writing, cooking, baking, and painting. She was a big fan of Bob Ross before he became a household name and was often seen re-watching videos of his painting techniques.
She is survived by her daughters Jenny Leigh Evans, Christine Marie Silver, Lisa Ann Mathern, her grandchildren Elizabeth Anne Evans, Victoria Angelique Ruck, Vanessa Marie Keller, Danielle Gabrielle Martin, Joshua Tyler Mathern, and her great grandchildren Skyler Nichole Mathern, Annalise Faye Mathern, Adonis Gerald Keller, and Amelia Emma Ruck.
A Visitation for Betty will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Baldwin Fairchild at Chapel Hill, 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817. A Funeral Service will occur Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 2420 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817. A Graveside Service will occur Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 2420 Harrell Rd, Orlando, FL 32817.
