William Joseph Bennett, age 75, of Green Cove Springs, Florida passed away at his home on Sunday, May 2, 2021. William was born February 26, 1946 in Esplanade, Semaphore Australia to William John Charles Bennett and Joan Edith Margetts Bennett. William proudly and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps, and retired as a Sergeant Major after 30 years of dedicated service. William was a Republic of Vietnam veteran with 26 months ground combat experience encompassing nine campaign periods. He enjoyed in his past time scuba diving, enjoyed playing golf, fixing his cars, time with his family and friends, travel, was known as a "Jack of all Trades", and also enjoyed spending time in his yard at home. William will be remembered as a honorable man to all who knew and loved him.
William is preceded in death by his parents, William and Joan Bennett. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Cecilia; loving son, Brent; two brothers, Steven and Michael Bennett; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead. The family will receive friends one hour prior beginning at 3:00 p.m. A committal service will be held at a later date to be scheduled at the Jacksonville National Cemetery with full USMC honors.
