Charles or better known as “Chip” was born on November 12, 1949, in Binghamton, New York to Charles Martin Pallman and Arlene Marie Krum. In 1961, when Charles was about 12 years old they moved down south to Jacksonville, Florida. Charles was very active during his years as an adolescent. He played Baseball, Basketball, was a part of the track team, and he also played football for Ribault High School. He was such a good football player he was recruited by the likes of Bear Bryant, Vince Dooley, and Ray Graves before deciding to go to school in the big city, Atlanta, at Georgia Institute of Technology as a wide receiver and punter while working toward his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management and graduating in 1971. He later attended the University of Georgia and earning his Master’s Degree in Business Administration by 1973. Later on, Chip met Denise and got married on April 14, 2012. Chip would go on to work at many financial institutions as a mortgage loan officer before retiring from BB&T in 2014.
After retiring from the mortgage banking world, Chip didn't just want to sit at home in his retirement. So, he became a substitute teacher for the Clay County School System. His favorite places to teach were the high schools. This pretty much fell in line with his family as his father Charles, Sr., and sister Patti were school teachers in Duval County. Chip also participated in many activities outside of work. A notable fact about Chip is that he was a long time member and president of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association from the 1970s well into the late 90s. He spent the 80s and 90s being a proud member of the Jacksonville Quarterback Club, He was also an active participant at St. Giles Presbyterian Church. His roles at the church included the role as an Elder and assisted with Finance, and Stewardship Committees, and even spent time as a Youth Leader. In Chip’s leisure time, you would see him spending time with his family and friends, out on the green with his golf clubs, and at TIAA Bank Field watching the Jaguars.
