William R. "Bob" Travers, Sr., 94, of Deltona, FL, and formerly of Jersey City, NJ, passed away on June 1, 2018. He was born July 20, 1923 to William and Grace Travers. Bob was an usher for Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Deltona and a member of the VFW American Ex-Prisoner of War – East Central Florida Chapter. He is a Veteran of WWII in the Army Air Force as a Nose Gunner. Bob received a Purple Heart after he was shot down over Germany and held as a prisoner of war for 11 months. He was the President for 2 terms with the NJ club and was an active member of Citizens on Patrol “COP” patrolling the city of Deltona for over 20 years. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rita Grant; and he is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Janet “Jennie” Travers; children, Judy Lloyd, William Travers, Jr., and Nancy Jones; grandchildren, Darren Lloyd, Michelle Baird, Christopher Jones, Kimberlie DeJesus, Kevin Jones, and Kellie Jones; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Natalie, and DJ Lloyd, Avery and Maliah Jones, Josiah, Jeniah, and Juelz DeJesus, Aiden DeGraff, and Kashtin Littles; and nieces, Lois Wylie and Janet Schwartzberg. Visitation will be Monday, June 11th from 5pm to 8pm at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, Orange City.
