Philip Bernard Michael Moody 67, of Largo Florida, formerly of Yeovil, England, passed away on October 28, 2018. He was born on February 22, 1951 in Mansfield, England to Bernard and Dorothy Moody. He served in the British Royal Navy for 14 years as a Chief Petty Officer and Electrical Engineer. While aboard Naval Ships HMS Raleigh, HMS Hermes, and HMS Illustrious he traveled all over the world serving his country. These times became the stories he would proudly retell to his children and grandchildren for the remainder of his life. As a young man he was a Boy Scout leader. His experiences with Scouting significantly shaped his personality. He was always willing to lend a hand and absolutely loved tinkering, fixing, and building things for people.
Philip is preceded in death by his life-long love and wife of 29 years, Maureen Moody. Philip’s father Bernard Moody, from whom he undoubtedly inherited his gentle and selfless nature, also precedes him in death. Both men were known and adored for being true gentlemen. He is survived by his three daughters and their husbands, and his grandchildren: Esther Jirka, husband Kevin, and children Jayden Philip and Elise Maureen; Rebecca Moody-Bruce, husband Brandon, and children Daniel Bernard, Ethan Isaac, and Tessa Jayne; Hannah Nelson, husband Stephen, and children Nathan William, Kyle James, and Luke Axel. His mother Dorothy Moody and siblings John, Marilyn, Janet, Sallyanne, and Michael, still reside in England. We all hold his memory in a special place in our hearts.
Services will be held on November 2, 2018 at 2pm at Serenity Gardens, 13401 Indian Rocks Rd, Largo, FL 33774. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CHARGE Syndrome Foundation (www.chargesyndrome.org) in honor of Daniel B who always held the lion’s share of his Grandad’s heart.
