Cynthia Aira Mayhew was born to Josephine and Nathan Duncanson in Bottle Creek, Turks and Caicos Islands, on February 22, 1937. She was the fourth of ten children. Cynthia was four years old when the family left their native island together and migrated to the island of Inagua, Bahamas. When she was ten years old, they moved once more, this time to Brooklyn, New York. There she completed her education when she graduated from Girls High School. After graduation, she worked for the American Bible Society.
Cynthia met Gregory while she was in High School. They both attended the Classon Avenue assembly where a strong friendship developed. Cynthia and Gregory then married in 1959. Next to the love of her Lord, Cynthia loved her family. She adored her husband Gregory to whom she had been married for 63 years. She was a devoted mother to Andrea, Mark, Christopher, and Craig.
For many years Cynthia worked alongside her husband in youth outreach, at Eastern Caribbean Bible Camp, at Mountainview Bible Camp and at her home assembly, Classon Ave. Later When Greg was called into fulltime ministry and service, she was always a partner with him in serving the Lord. Cynthia developed friendships with many who regarded her as one of their extended family.
Cynthia, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 30, 2023, at Carmel Hills Assisted Living in Charlotte, NC.
Cynthia will be dearly missed by those who knew her, but our consolation is that she is with her Lord and Savior, whom she loved and served.
