Brian Robertson

Brian Fredrick Robertson went to be with our Lord on Saturday, March 5, 2022.  He was born November 20, 1980 in Mansfield, Ohio and attended Crestview High School, the University of Toledo and Mount Vernon Nazarene College.  He was a founding partner and investment advisor for Platinum Family Wealth.  Brian’s friends describe him as passionate about his family, faith, friends, financial planning and fun.

Time spent with his family brought Brian the most joy.  He was a caring husband, provider and protector for his wife, Jan, and son, Nathan.  He was often the life of the party and generously hosted many family meals and birthday parties.  His charismatic personality made him many friends over the years.  He was confident, a bit ornery and had the biggest smile you have ever seen.  He led prayer so well before each family meal that people joked that he had missed his calling and would have made a great Pastor.

Brian loved God and was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church, serving as treasurer and a talented member of the Praise Team.  A gifted musician, Brian excelled at bass guitar and also played electric guitar and drums.  Brian nurtured his son’s natural talent for playing the drums and greatly enjoyed playing alongside him during church services.  Members of his Praise Team describe how he inspired each of them to be better and always prayed with them before practice asking the Lord to help them be servant leaders.  He had a big heart, enjoyed volunteering, and would help anyone in need.

In his work, Brian also focused on family.  He felt blessed to have built a business where he could help make a positive difference for multiple families and generations. According to a colleague, the careful planning Brian applied to his clients’ needs is one of the reasons Platinum Family Wealth continues to flourish today.

Brian shared a passion for cars and racing with his brother Fred and son Nathan.  He enjoyed competing in Sports Car Club of America races all over the Midwest.  More recently, he would race his Corvette Z06 at track days in Ohio and Pennsylvania so that his family could come and spend the day with him.  He made many racing friends and was always eager to help and share his knowledge with them.

In a paraphrase of the words of St. Paul:  Brian has competed well.  He has finished the race.  He has kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:6-8).

Brian is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Jan Bauer Robertson; son, Nathan Robertson; mother, Sylvia (Doug) Casey Thrush; father, Fred Robertson; brother Fred Robertson; two step sisters, Lorilee (Dave) Schick and Charlotte (Brian) Aguirre; two step brothers, Greg Thrush and Carson (Megan) Thrush; his in-laws, Mary Ann and Robert Bauer; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Ann Bauer, Laurie (Dutch) Fitzwater, Julie Hollinger, Bob (Julia) Bauer, Amy (Dennis) Durst, Lisa (Brian) Blodgett and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and an uncle.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 1574 State Route 96 East, Ashland, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of the family for a college fund for his son, Nathan.
