Chino native John Alios Rohrer, Age 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on July 28, 2015. Born September 10, 1931, John’s childhood home (dairy) was at the corner of Schaefer and Oaks street in Chino. He lived in Chino his entire life and was very proud of his Swiss heritage. After working his entire childhood on his Dad’s Chino dairy, he joined the U.S. Army and proudly served during the Korean War as a corporal. After his war service, he returned home to his childhood sweetheart, Theresa Richenberger and was married at St. Margaret Mary Church in 1956. John and Theresa would have celebrated 60 years of marriage next year. John was also an active parishioner of St. Margaret’s and received the honor of 3rd degree in the Knights of Columbus.
John was employed by Shady Grove Dairy of Ontario and then Alta Dena Dairy of City of Industry as a milk delivery man serving many homes, markets, restaurants and hospitals in the Chino Valley area for over 40 years. He made countless friends and was well known for his commitment to “service” and always being available to his customers. After retiring, John enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, ‘puttering around the house, working at his son’s (Jim) cabinet shop and especially working on ‘fix it’ projects around his house of 58 years. He also enjoyed spending time with his large family and the group of “Ole’ Cronies” he knew most of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Rohrer of Chino and their 6 children. Daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) Cobb and husband Richard Cobb of Anaheim Hills, son, John Rohrer Jr. and wife Carol of Victorville, son, Jim Rohrer and wife Molly of Ontario, daughter Margaret Martinez of Corona, son Michael (Mike) and wife Mary of Chino, daughter Heidi Rohrer of Chino, loving brother’s Walter Rohrer of Chino and wife Pat, brother Robert (Bob) Rohrer of Lytle Creek and sister Hildegard DeGoede of Mossyrock, Washington.
His legacy will live on in his 11 grandchildren Michael, Amanda, Kevan, Kamron, Tammy, Johnny, Brandon, Elizabeth, Bridget, Jacqueline and Lauren and his two great granddaughters, Alyssa and Ava.
John was preceded in death by his loving parents Walter and Josephine Rohrer who migrated to Chino from Switzerland in 1920.
We will miss our “Papa Bear”.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Knights of Columbus.
