Raised in South Central, Los Angeles, Greg attended Crenshaw High School. He displayed a talent for Poetry, writing a Poem about his life struggles which landed him an award and opportunity to compete outside his district; this was a huge accomplishment. Even though he had stage fright at the time, humor helped him to perform. He also used drawing as an outlet for coping with his childhood traumas.
In 1995 after the sudden death of his father Greg Sr., he Graduated from Crenshaw High and in honor of his father, Greg pursued Accounting at Devry University. Still intrigued by the poetry and how easy it was to write with a pen and paper, Greg was encouraged by his boys to join the rap game. Greg would soon adopt the name Slo “the godfather” Stallone and a few other names over time. Although rap was his passion, he had to pay the bills. Greg never went without a job, working with his mom, his sister, and later as a telemarketer with his Aunt Rose Norman. He was always close to family.
Some would say Greg was an introvert, but to his family and friends he was much like a celebrity. If Greg was coming, we knew the party was about to start. He would have us all crying with laughter. He would “bag” roast a person like no other.
Slo finally had something to show for and was proud to share, his sample DVD titled “Anterazh Ryda”, featuring a collaboration with Kurupt and Roscoe on a song titled “Gangbang”. Slo would find himself spending long nights and the majority of his time around “the Anterazh”. Later he appeared in an article with Kurupt and “his crew” in the Source Magazine.
As for his personal life, Greg had a personal relationship with each of his siblings. He was the backbone that held the family together. His siblings always confided in him for advice, guidance, and support. Now, getting Greg on the line was the hard part. After several attempts, back-to-back calls, a sense of urgency would eventually lead to him answering the call.
Ultimately Greg would postpone his music career. However, occasionally, he would spit a verse or two while smokin’ the trees, in his car on his lunch break. A co-worker challenged Greg to consider Comedy. She believed in him; she recorded him once without his knowledge and sent it to him. They later visited a few open mics and Greg started recording his own material. Greg would never stop being creative and coming up with great ideas.
Greg was a light in any room; with a tuff exterior, he was a gentle and compassionate soul. Meticulous in his actions and deeds, he lived life on his own terms and never shied away from challenging himself.
On June 4, 2021, God saw that he was getting tired and the cure was not to be, so He put His arms around Greg (Slo) and whispered, "Come with Me." With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fading away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, busy hands laid to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. May you Rest in Peace, Greg.
Preceding him in death; his Father, Greg Sr., and Grandmother, TeeTee (Laura Jones).
To cherish his memories, Greg leaves behind his mother Betty Norman, grandmother Granny (Mary Norman), 2 sisters Shanishawn (Reuben) Brown, Shannon Norman, 2 brothers Sean (Miqua) Chapman (Michigan), Grashon Norman, 4 nieces Chazz Brown, Brianna, Morgan and Chace Chapman (Michigan) and nephew Reuben Brown Jr, Aunts and Uncles Ann (William) Norris, Sandra (Rohenan) Haynie, Ken (Michelle) Norman, Rose (Sheila) Norman, Charlotte Robinson, cousins (that were more like sisters and brothers) and a host of family and friends.
