Deborah Jayne (Chappell) Lawless, age 70 of Ontario, CA sadly left us on Friday February 17, 2023 in the comfort of her own home. She was born on January 24, 1953 in Pomona, CA to Everett Chappell and Fay Gordon who have both preceded her in death.
Deborah was one of many generations to attend Chaffey High School. She graduated in 1970. She attended West Coast College and graduated as a dental assistant in 1990. Deborah was a dental assistance for many years of her life. Deborah fell in love and married Keith Lawless on July 10, 1976 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ontario. In May of 1977, they welcomed their first-born Corey. In March of 1979, Crystal was born, and September 1980 Clint was born. Deborah was blessed to stay home and raise her children when they were young. She also watched her family and her friend's children. She was actively involved in her church, LDS of Ontario; she was the Den Leader for the Cub Scouts of America, a Primary Teacher for Sunday school and a member of the Relief Society (Activity Division). Deborah along her husband, brother Don and sister–in-law Sue were known as the One- Arm Bandit in the Sun Downers League. She also was a scorekeeper for various bowling leagues to earn extra money to help do her part for the household funds. Deborah was involved in the neighborhood watch and was the coordinator for the Family Night Out block parties for many years.
Deborah continued her education; in 1990, she graduated from Chaffey College with her AA degree. In August of 2004, Deborah and Keith were sealed (eternal marriage covenant) in the Nauvoo Illinois Temple. Deborah was known for researching family history and genealogy, a hobby passed down from her mother. She enjoyed taking walks, listening to classic rock music, going to dinner with friends and most important being around family and hosting holiday dinners. Deborah and Keith would often take the kids to Yosemite Park, Laughlin to water ski with their boat and camping as a family with the boy scouts. She would often pick up her grandchildren from school. She helped raise many grandchildren in her home. She was a devoted mother and an amazing grandmother.
In 2014, Deborah began a long battle with Dementia and Alzheimer’s. She went on hospice in her own home on February 7, 2023 where her devoted husband continued to care for her until she took her last breath.
Deborah leaves to cherish her memories to her loving husband Keith Lawless of 46 years, three children; Corey, Crystal, and Clint Lawless, seven grandchildren; Cheyanne, Cody, Jesse, Janelle, Brooklyn, Clayton, and Chase, two siblings; Don Chappell (Sue Vail) and Deanna Stowers (Chappell), two nieces: Megan Hopkins and Jenny Chappell, one nephew; Dustin Chappell, mother in law; Darlene Ogle and many other extended family members and dear friends.
She will be missed but never forgotten 💜
