Dawn was born on March 29, 1935, in Upland, California, to Louis and Lily Fern Oswald. Though her birth certificate states, “Marilyn Dawn Oswald,” everyone knew her as “Dawn.” She grew up with her two brothers in the early years of what we now call the Inland Empire—mostly in Upland and Ontario, where her parents had an egg ranch.
After graduation from Chaffey High School, Dawn attended Fergusen’s Beauty School in San Bernardino, living with her aunt in that area. She and Jack Glick married and brought three smart, kind and hard-working children into the world. As a single mother, Dawn rejoined the workforce in the early 1970s—first as a hairdresser at Claremont Manor Senior Community, then in the Admissions Department of San Antonio Community Hospital, where she worked for over two decades.
Dawn is survived by her brother Daryl (Cindy), son Brian (Margaret), daughters Brenda Buster (Bill) and Betsy Rohaly (Marc); grandchildren Elizabeth Flores (Randy), Daniel Glick (Amanda), Jenna Tabares (Ricky), Jillian Danenhauer (Jeremy), Lacey Loofbourrow, Samuel Buster, Christyn Buster, Billy Buster, (Jen); great grandchildren Levi, Amos, Maggie, Holden, Livia, Callen, Cami and Joe. She is predeceased by her parents and brother Arden (aka Ozz).
A funeral service for Dawn will be held on March 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Draper Mortuary, 811 North Mountain Ave, Ontario, CA 91762. A reception will follow the service. Interment services will be held privately on a later date.
