Born to Arthur and Rosalie Jones, she was commonly known as Sue. She lived a full and wonderful life.
Sue’s brother Don remembers Sue fondly as his protector and defender who would intervene on his behalf with their parents. He is forever grateful for her kindness and concern.
Born and raised in Chatham NJ, she met her future husband Ronald Baldy while roller skating at the Florham Park Roller Rink. She graduated Chatham High School in 1955 and in 1958 married Ron. Sue and Ron honeymooned at Sue’s family’s cabin on the lake in Cooperstown, NY and made their first home in an apartment in Madison, NJ.
Family was important to Sue and she was a stay-at-home mom with the young children but always worked at different jobs at home. Summers were spent at the same family cabin as the honeymoon. Only a trailer was added for the Baldy’s since Rose and Art were in the cabin. Later, Sue and her husband constructed a four-season home to replace the trailer and cabin.
Sue’s love of animals was so unbounded that a trip to the local pet store for a dog collar ended in a return to home with a baby goat “Cindy” who became a loved member of the Baldy family for many years.
Once the children were older Sue started working at Mazzocchi Bus Company as a bus driver and advanced to be the manager in charge of everyone in the company even telling the owners what bus route to drive that day. Sue worked very long hours at this job but made lifelong friends.
Sue also served her community as a member of the local First Aid Squad. Sue’s last job was as a driver for the residents of Fellowship Village, a senior living facility in Liberty Corner NJ. Retiring from that job Sue and her husband sold the NJ home and moved to the lake house in Cooperstown to live full time. Here Sue spent time volunteering at a local historical venue, Hyde Hall, an architecturally renowned mansion from early 1800s.
After three winters in upstate NY, they decided to become snowbirds, wintering in Ocala FL where winter could be enjoyed without harsh weather. Later Sue and Ron sold the FL home and moved to Oneonta, NY to live full time in an apartment of an independent living facility.
Throughout Sue’s life she was an avid reader of fiction of all kinds and loved knitting. Her family enjoys blankets and sweaters that she crafted. She will forever be remembered for her kindness towards everyone and her wonderful smile.
Sue is survived by her husband Ronald Baldy of Oneonta NY, daughter Michelle and her husband Neil Huebner of Boulder CO, son Michael Baldy and his partner Veronica Dobozinski of Cobleskill NY, brother Dr Donald and his wife Barbara Jones, nephew Jonathan Jones and his wife Ashley, nieces Jennifer Cornell and her husband Corey, Kristina Rains and her husband Jeremy, Linda Booser, Karen Crossley, and nephew Bill Booser and his wife Moreen.
