Sherry M Vagliardo

She was born January 08, 1950 in Oneonta the daughter of Joseph and Grace (Palmater) McCrea.

Sherry was a 1968 graduate of Oneonta Senior High School. She later attended SUNY Oneonta.

On October 18, 1975 Sherry married John P. Vagliardo in Oneonta.

Sherry devoted her time to raising her two sons, Vincent and Shane. She loved to vacation in Florida, where she spent her days sitting by Shane’s pool and reading her favorite books. When not at Shane’s, she enjoyed family trips to Satellite Beach. She also loved taking day trips outside Oneonta and always attended the concerts at Cooperstown’s Lakefront Park. She cherished celebrating the seasons and holidays — decorating her home, cooking and baking for family and friends. In the summer, she enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to her many tropical plants. Sherry had a loving heart and found joy in helping her community.

Sherry is survived by her husband, John P. Vagliardo; two sons, Vincent Vagliardo, Oneonta and Shane Vagliardo, Casselberry, Florida; sister, Linda (McCrea) and Richard Takacs, North Tonawanda, New York; brother, Joseph McCrea, Eugene, Oregon; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Grace McCrea.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street from 4:00-7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 39 Walnut Street with the Rev. Christopher Welsh officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
