Mil was born in Rochester New York on September 17, 1918 the daughter of Morris and Celia (Snyder) Paul. She married Gerald Levine on October 29, 1948 and he pre-deceased her on April 25, 1987.
Mil was an important part of our community and maintained a residence on Union Street for nearly 50 years. She retired in 1987 from SUNY Oneonta where she was the administrative assistant to the Director of Equal Opportunities. Prior to this position Mil worked for the Schools' Psychologist and Elementary Education Department. Additionally, before her marriage she was a civilian employee with the United States Navy in Atlantic City.
Mil was a member of Temple Beth El and its Sisterhood where she had also served as treasurer. She was a volunteer at AO Fox Hospital, as well being formerly active with the YMCA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and the Easter Seals Agency.
At home Mil was talented with her sewing machine as she crafted signature sachet bags and pillows. Away from home Mil had an active social life although she rarely would have a drink. She enjoyed meaningful relationships with dear friends. Mil and Ed enjoyed the special relationship they shared with their neighbor and caregiver Dinah Rivera.
One of her favorite day trips was to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, where they maintain and extensive collection of articles related to her deceased brother Gabe Paul.
She is survived by two children, Carolyn Paul of Boulder, CO., David J. Levine of Dallas, TX, Grandson, Gabriel L. Deall of Durango, CO, and Dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the United States.
She was the last survivor of 11 children. Mil was predeceased by her long-time companion, Edward Puritz. Additionally she became very close to Ed's son Andy, his wife Joan as well as their children.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 1 PM Temple Beth El Synagogue, 83 Chestnut St. Oneonta, NY. Burial will follow in Temple Beth El Cemetery located in Emmons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth El or the Schenevus Volunteer Fire Department.
