She was born December 17, 1959, in Utica, the daughter of the Walter T. and Beatrice (Worlock) Addington. Leona lived in Sauquoit for a period of time before moving to Hartwick to be with her sister Claudia for many years before deciding she wanted to be more independent and moved to her Walnut Street home in Oneonta and then to her Cook Street home in Worcester. Leona held several jobs in the local area working on the SUNY Campus in the coffee shops and at Taylor’s Store in Colliersville. Leona could often be found volunteering in the local area especially during First Night festivities in Oneonta. She loved to bowl and belonged to leagues throughout the years. Singing and dancing as well as traveling were among her favorite activities. Leona lived a very happy life and lived it to the fullest. Leona was a longtime resident of Springbrook and enjoyed many functions with her many friends. The family would like to acknowledge her house staff at Walnut Street and Cook Street along with her housemates and very special housemates Vinny Deforest & Pumpkin.
She is survived by her brother Howard (Sue) Addington, her sisters Irene (Phil) Davis, Suzy (Don) Kenyon, and Claudia (Rod) McLean; sister-in-law, Linda Addington and many special nieces & nephews especially Dan McLean and Nicole Bello.
Leona was predeceased by her parents as well as her oldest brother Russell.
The family would like to thank Springbrook and Helios Care for their care and support as well as those who touched Leona’s life.
Due to Covid-19 there will be no public services at this time. The family will have a “Celebration of Leona’s Life” at a later date. A Graveside Service will take place at the convenience of the family in Madison Village Cemetery, Madison, NY.
